Albany County Democrats Set the Record Straight on Hageman March 19 Town Hall
Laramie – ACDP Chair Klaus Halbsgut has issued the following statement in response to Harriet Hageman’s false accusations against the Albany County Democratic Party.
Albany County Democratic Party fully rejects Rep. Harriet Hageman’s false and inflammatory claim that we “orchestrated” disruptions at her March 19th town hall in Laramie. This cannot be further from the truth.
In fact, we organized a peaceful Gathering for Good earlier in the day — a community event focused on unity, civic engagement, and respectful dialogue. It included sign-making, a rally at the courthouse, and public remarks at the Civic Center. We had no role in organizing or managing the town hall itself, and we did not direct or encourage any disruptive behavior inside the venue.
Rep. Hageman’s accusations are disappointing and unhelpful. The chaotic nature of the town hall reflects the frustration many feel toward the federal government and Rep. Hageman’s failure to engage meaningfully with her constituents. Her decision to cancel future in-person events and shift blame to local Democrats raises serious questions about transparency and accountability and appears to be an attempt to avoid addressing all her constituents and not just Democrats real and valid concerns.
As Albany County Democrats, we remain committed to fostering dialogue and building community. We invite all those who feel disenfranchised or eager to make a difference to join us in working toward a better future for Laramie, Albany County, and Wyoming.
