Cheyenne – The Wyoming Democratic Party has released the following statement regarding Secretary of State Chuck Gray’s directive to eliminate ballot drop boxes for the 2024 election.

Secretary of State Chuck Gray’s recent directive to eliminate ballot drop boxes for the 2024 election represents a dangerous step backward for voter accessibility in our state and disregards the proven security of Wyoming’s elections. Drop boxes provide a safe, effective, and convenient option for thousands of Wyoming residents to exercise their right to vote, particularly those who are living with disabilities, have limited transportation options, reside in rural areas, work demanding schedules, or are senior citizens.

The Wyoming Democratic Party trusts our county clerks to conduct elections safely and securely and has confidence in their continued ability to manage the election process with integrity and professionalism.

Simply put, any attempt to suppress voter access erodes the foundation of our democracy. The Wyoming Democratic Party urges Secretary Gray to abandon this directive and instead work towards methods to ensure that every voter has the opportunity to cast their ballot by increasing voter access and participation.
